Let’s face it, the internet has changed the game for exhibitions and tradeshows.
People don’t need to meet face to face to get information on products and services anymore. They use Google (or Yahoo or Bing) to research everything from prices to backgrounds on a supplier or company.
It’s much worse for Tradeshows and Exhibitions dealing with IT and Technology.
So how can Tradeshows entice visitors? Simply put – They have to premiere never seen before innovative ideas / concepts at the event!
Here’s some ideas that we have suggested in Business Networking forums, inspired by the upcoming IT tradeshow in the Middle East, GITEX
Now, we all know that businesses and common lay people are very technology savvy in this day and age. However there is always scope for innovation and ingenuity.
Management behind B2B transactions, and the general public like to be assured when anything that they intend to spend money on, is “validated” or even introduced, by some respected source i.e IT-ME!
It would be nice to have a creative zone at the exhibition, where IT-ME! takes innovative products / ideas and brings them under a spotlight. They all don’t have to be ground-breaking… sometimes great ideas are already out there but hidden in the clutter.
One example (for IT-ME! Consumer-Expo): How many of you have noticed the CD/DVD writer on your Laptop or PC? Did you notice the “lightscribe” logo on it?
None of them had it. Emax did have a few boxes of these Imation Cd-roms (no DVD), but none of the sales assistants had a clue what it does.
None of the media suppliers, Verbatim , Imation etc, have considered stocking these on shelves.
So IT-ME! can liaison with such manufacturers/providers to display these ideas to the end user, thereby educating everyone, and building the IT-ME! brand name at the same time.
These would be reasons why we, as end users would take the time out to visit a trade fair… otherwise the internet serves us just fine for info.
Lightscribe? ( http://www.lightscribe.com ) beautiful labels burned by laser right on the disc without the mess of paper labels that cause damage to CD-DVD drives.
But IT-ME! is also a B2B tradeshow and features ICT (information communications technology) and other cutting edge broadcast solutions.
So here’s another: Thuraya will be advertising their sat phones, and hopfully their Sat (Fly-away) portable terminals. meanwhile other Telecom providers will probably be there demoing their latest broadband over 3G packages.
There will surely be some camera manufacturers (JVC / Sony) showing something. so how about a SEEN FIRST @ IT-ME! come in?
IT-ME! takes a lightweight camera, a lightweight laptop, along with video edit software from Apple / Adobe etc, combines it with a Thuraya IP streaming over Satellite solution and fits it all in a back pack and shows it as a mobile “in-the-field” reporting solution to people from the journalism / reporting segment.
Is this too narrow and specialized a segment to address? NO! the same solution can be used by field engineers of RTA (Roads and Transport authority) to send back visual reports to HQ, the same can be used by structural engineers out inspecting an oil-rig etc etc..
IT-ME! thus leads the way in innovation… and people from diverse markets who visit the tradeshow, find the use. At any rate .. it’s “Seen First @ IT-ME!” and can be the spark that accelerates innovation and refinement in these areas, and makes visitors WANT to look forward to visiting year after year… to see what new innovations are premiering at IT-ME!
(p.s these are just on the spur of the moment, unrefined raw sample ideas, and can cover segments of a technology themed trade-show)
RealVision.ae can no doubt assist Manufacturers, Trade show organizers and service providers with creative and innovative ideas to create trade-shows worth attending.
Today it’s also up to tradeshows to take the initative and show Manufacturers and Service Providers “where the money’s at”.
