Tourism in Stereoscopic 3D
A picture is worth a thousand words, we all know that. Then there are moving pictures, that are worth a few million more. A stereoscopic 3D video… priceless! Especially in an industry such as Tourism. Millions of dollars are spent annually by tourism boards in many countries, to spread awareness and for in-bound tourism to places such as Malaysia, famous for it’s catchy tourism video and tune, India and Singapore to name a few Asian countries. In the Middle East there is Dubai. Europe and the US have their own equally inspiring promotions.
Today’s tourists and holiday makers have access to a wealth of information and multimedia, to help them decide where to go. It goes without saying that glossy brochures and videos with saturated colors of beaches and lagoons to ski slopes, are in high demand as when done well, they influence a prospective tourist to choose one destination over the other.
However, this is all that is being offered at Tourism offices in over-seas locations or at international trade fairs dedicated to Tourism at this time. It is time to take it a step further.
Visit your Destination in 3D
Capturing a location in stereoscopic 3D, is the next big thing in Tourism promotion and awareness! Surround audio can re-create an environment that is being promoted, such as a lush tropical island with birds and the sound of the ocean. We can now complement that sensory experience with surround visuals, to complete the experience and create a teaser of what the actual location is like.
Imagine, the ancient ruins of Greece, or a tropical island with just an empty deck chair and waves lapping at the shore being viewed with full depth on a large 3D LCD screen or a wrap-around stereoscopic 3D HMD at a trade show. This allows Tourism boards and Tour companies to arm their marketing staff with nothing more than a laptop and a HMD to give a viewer a whole multi-sensory experience.
Youtube 3D can now show off a location in full 3D over the internet to further spread awareness. The Video above is in 3D and hosted on Youtube. There is even an option to see it in full High Definition. Click here to see the above video in Youtube HD 3D if you have a good broadband connection.
For offline presentations in HD and with surround sound, all that is needed is a capable Laptop and the new breed of 3D enabled single projectors, such as the excellent DepthQ HD. Other brands are already soon emerging.
Real Vision can rapidly create 3D location experiences for Tourism with knowhow that is tailored to highlight different aspects of Tourism, such as how to capture environments such as Heritage locations, Hotel Resorts, Adventure tourism and tranquil retreats to give an audience a taste of what is in store for them when visiting these destinations.
