Tourism in Stereoscopic 3D

A picture is worth a thousand words, we all know that. Then there are moving pictures, that are worth a few million more. A stereoscopic 3D video… priceless! Especially in an industry such as Tourism. Millions of dollars are spent annually by tourism boards in many countries, to spread awareness and for in-bound tourism to places such as Malaysia, famous for it’s catchy tourism video and tune, India and Singapore to name a few Asian countries. In the Middle East there is Dubai. Europe and the US have their own equally inspiring promotions.

Today’s tourists and holiday makers have access to a wealth of information and multimedia, to help them decide where to go. It goes without saying that glossy brochures and videos with saturated colors of beaches and lagoons to ski slopes, are in high demand as when done well, they influence a prospective tourist to choose one destination over the other.

However, this is all that is being offered at Tourism offices in over-seas locations or at international trade fairs dedicated to Tourism at this time. It is time to take it a step further.

Capturing a location in stereoscopic 3D, is the next big thing in Tourism promotion and awareness! Surround audio can re-create an environment that is being promoted, such as a lush tropical island with birds and the sound of the ocean. We can now complement that sensory experience with surround visuals, to complete the experience and create a teaser of what the actual location is like.
